Scientific Article Modern Communication Technologies and How They Have Transformed Healthcare Over the past decades, the healthcare sector has undergone a radical transformation as a result of the rapid development of modern communication technologies. These technologies have contributed to improving the quality of medical services and enhancing the efficiency of healthcare institutions. The Internet, wireless communication networks, and smart applications have become essential tools for delivering healthcare, diagnosing diseases, and monitoring patients' conditions. These technologies have enabled the provision of remote medical consultations, helping to overcome geographical barriers and facilitating patients' access to specialized physicians, particularly in remote areas. Electronic health record systems have also accelerated the exchange of medical information among healthcare institutions, enhanced the accuracy of treatment decisions, and improved continuity of care. Furthermore, fifth-generation (5G) communication technologies and the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) have played a significant role in supporting smart health-monitoring devices. These devices enable the continuous monitoring of patients' vital signs and the real-time transmission of data to medical teams. In addition, digital communication technologies have helped develop emergency response systems and strengthen collaboration among physicians, researchers, and healthcare institutions at both local and global levels. Despite these advantages, the digital transformation of healthcare faces several challenges, including information security, patient privacy, disparities in digital infrastructure, and the need for professional training and capacity building among healthcare personnel. In conclusion, modern communication technologies have not merely improved the tools used in medical care; they have also contributed to reshaping the healthcare landscape into a more interconnected, efficient, and flexible system. This transformation supports the enhancement of healthcare services and contributes to improving the quality of life for individuals and communities. Prepared by: Prof. Dr. Haider Jabbar Al-Janabi
