Al-Mustaqbal University has embodied its pioneering status as a prominent academic beacon representing Iraqi higher education in international forums. On 21/5/2026, the President of the University, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, the Dean of the College of Engineering Technologies, Prof. Dr. Azhar Mohsen Abdul, and the Director of the Energy Research Center, Prof. Dr. Salwan Obaid, were awarded high-level certificates of appreciation in recognition of the university’s excellence in supporting green economy and digital transformation initiatives. This recognition came following active scientific contributions and specialized presentations delivered by the university delegation, represented by the Director of the Energy Research Center, Prof. Dr. Salwan Obaid, and Dr. Mohammed Mitham, during a three-day specialized workshop held in Erbil Governorate. The workshop witnessed remarkable participation from representatives of UNESCO (Iraq Office) and the Director of the European Union office in the Kurdistan Region, who expressed great admiration for the university’s leading role and sustainable projects. They also emphasized the importance of Al-Mustaqbal University’s initiatives in innovation and sustainability, and insisted on personally participating in presenting the awards in recognition of its outstanding efforts. Al-Mustaqbal University also stood out as the only Iraqi university officially invited to participate and be honored in this international workshop, reflecting its advanced national position in adopting Sustainable Development Goals and digital transformation. On the sidelines of this achievement, arrangements were made to coordinate an upcoming visit by a UNESCO delegation to Al-Mustaqbal University, with the aim of strengthening academic cooperation and exploring future partnership opportunities with the university presidency.
