Al-Mustaqbal University Participates in Higher Education and Clarivate Workshop to Transform Knowledge into Economic Value

Al-Mustaqbal University participated with a high-level academic and scientific delegation in the specialized workshop organized by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in cooperation with Clarivate on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at the University of Baghdad. The workshop, titled “Building a University Ecosystem to Transform Knowledge into Economic Value,” brought together a distinguished group of university leaders, researchers, and experts in higher education, scientific research, and innovation. The University’s participation comes in line with its commitment to strengthening its active academic and scientific presence and contributing to specialized events and forums that support the development of higher education and scientific research, while enhancing the role of universities in promoting development and building a knowledge- and innovation-based economy. The workshop was attended by His Excellency Minister of Communications Mustafa Sanad, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research for Scientific Research Affairs, Prof. Dr. Haider Abdul-Dhad, as well as a number of university presidents, academic leaders, and researchers. In his address, Prof. Dr. Haider Abdul-Dhad emphasized the importance of moving Iraqi universities beyond their traditional role of knowledge production toward a more active role in transforming research outcomes and innovation into economic and developmental value. He highlighted the importance of digital transformation, the implementation of the Bologna Process, activating industrial advisory councils, establishing science and technology parks, and expanding partnerships with international scientific institutions. The workshop also addressed the importance of developing a university ecosystem that is more closely aligned with the needs of the labor market and productive sectors, enabling education and research outcomes to contribute to addressing developmental challenges and developing knowledge-based products and services. The workshop featured a series of specialized lectures and presentations delivered by Dr. Ayman Aqeel and Dr. Waleed Hassan from Clarivate. The sessions explored the foundations of integrated knowledge and innovation management systems, mechanisms for transforming research outcomes into applications with economic value, technology transfer, intellectual property protection, entrepreneurship, and strengthening partnerships between universities and productive sectors. Al-Mustaqbal University was represented by a delegation headed by Prof. Dr. Muzaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairi, Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision. The delegation also included Prof. Dr. Tariq Jawad Kadhim, Director of the Scientific Affairs Department; Dr. Samir Badrawi, Director of the Cultural Relations Department; and Dr. Abdullah Musa Kadhim, Consultant at the Scientific Affairs Department. The workshop featured in-depth scientific discussions focusing on developing an institutional environment that supports innovation within Iraqi universities, strengthening partnerships between universities and the public and private sectors, and harnessing knowledge and scientific research to develop solutions and applications capable of generating sustainable economic and developmental impact. Al-Mustaqbal University’s participation in this distinguished scientific forum reflects its commitment to continuously developing its academic and research ecosystem, expanding its presence at high-quality scientific events, and establishing effective institutional partnerships.
