Al-Mustaqbal University Launches the 2026–2027 Academic Year with the First University Council Meeting and an Integrated Action Plan

Professor Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, chaired the first meeting of the University Council for the new academic year 2026–2027, in the presence of the distinguished members of the Council, including the University Vice Presidents, Deans, and Heads of Departments. At the outset of the meeting, the University President extended his warmest greetings and congratulations to the professors, academic staff, and students on the commencement of the new academic year, wishing everyone a year filled with excellence, success, and academic achievement. The meeting also began with congratulations to the participating students and the Student Activities Division for achieving first place in Iraq among private universities and colleges. The University President praised this outstanding achievement, which reflects the University’s excellence across various fields of student activities. The meeting emphasized a set of academic and organizational directives issued by the University Presidency, including: 1. **Regularity of Academic Studies and Activities:** Ensuring the regular commencement of classes from the first day, promptly announcing academic timetables, activating student activities, and supporting students’ talents and skills. 2. **Student-Centered Education and the Learning Environment:** Placing the student at the core of the educational process, preparing students to meet labor market requirements, fostering awareness and a sense of belonging, and strengthening the University’s role in serving the community. 3. **Innovation and Technological Development:** Promoting innovation and entrepreneurship, implementing digital transformation and artificial intelligence to advance education, and expanding international academic and research partnerships. The Council also discussed the following key items on its agenda: 1. **Academic Calendar and Preparations for the Academic Year:** Approving the academic calendar and weekly timetables and ensuring their prompt announcement, with classes commencing on Sunday, September 20, 2026. 2. **Second-Round Examinations and Results:** Discussing the announcement of the second-round examination results. 3. **SIS and E-Governance:** Emphasizing the implementation of the Student Information System (SIS) and the electronic governance system approved by the Ministry, while organizing urgent workshops. Students who fail to register in the system will be considered absent. 4. **Tuition Fee Payments:** Organizing tuition payments in four installments, with the first installment amounting to 25% of the annual tuition fee and payable from September 15 to September 30. Students who fail to meet the payment requirements will have their registration suspended. 5. **Admission Rates and Regulations:** Discussing admission rates and regulations stipulated in the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research’s official admission guide, and approving the tuition fees for the academic year 2026–2027. 6. **Internationalization and Postgraduate Studies:** Commending the student training experience at the University of the West of England (UWE), following up on postgraduate studies, reviewing recent international visits, and expanding international academic and research partnerships. 7. **College Councils and Ministerial Directives:** Reviewing the minutes of College Councils, following up on incoming ministerial correspondence and instructions, and addressing legal affairs. At the conclusion of the meeting, Professor Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi called upon all College Deanships, academic and administrative staff to redouble their efforts and work in a spirit of teamwork, drawing inspiration from the exceptional achievements accomplished during the previous academic year as a foundation for greater success. He reaffirmed that Al-Mustaqbal University is moving forward with confidence toward strengthening its position as a global academic institution that provides society with highly qualified scientific and professional graduates.
