the Department of English Language and Literature at the College of Arts, Al-Mustaqbal University, organized a specialized scientific workshop titled: "The Loanwords in English Language". The workshop was attended by the Head of the Department of English Language and Literature, Prof. Dr. Aassim Abood Zabar, alongside faculty members and a large audience of undergraduate students. The session was delivered by department faculty member Dr. Ahmed Hani Nayyef, who presented an in-depth analysis of linguistic borrowing and lexical evolution within the English language over time. He highlighted how vocabulary from Latin, Greek, French, and Arabic origins entered the English lexicon, illustrating how intercultural exchanges enriched the language's vocabulary and semantic structure. The presentation was followed by interactive discussions and Q&A sessions involving faculty and students, focusing on practical applications in historical and applied linguistics. The event concluded with the department leadership reiterating its commitment to hosting regular academic workshops that refine students' linguistic competence and broaden their scientific knowledge.
