The Engineering Technical College at Al-Mustaqbal University discussed the foundational steps for establishing a Students’ Union and activating the Student Club for Development and Innovation during an expanded meeting held on October 7, 2026, in the Conference Hall of the Engineering Technical Building. The meeting brought together the College Deanship and students who participated in the international training program at the University of West London (UWL), with the aim of strengthening student representation, developing leadership skills, and benefiting from successful international experiences in improving university life.
The meeting included a review of the students’ experiences during their training program in the United Kingdom, as well as presentations and proposals inspired by student practices at the University of West London. Discussions also addressed mechanisms for organizing student activities and initiatives, activating disciplinary and innovation clubs, and encouraging teamwork and participation in scientific and community-based initiatives.
The College Deanship emphasized the importance of establishing a Students’ Union as a significant step toward empowering students to participate actively in developing the university environment, fostering initiative and responsibility, and building leadership personalities capable of creating a positive impact on society.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the first founding team of the Students’ Union was formed. The team will be responsible for preparing the organizational framework and internal regulations, developing an action plan for the establishment phase, and laying the groundwork for launching a range of student initiatives and activities during the current academic semester.
This initiative aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4: Quality Education and SDG 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions, by promoting student participation, developing leadership competencies, and strengthening participatory institutional practices.
