Biomedical Engineering Students Present a Scientific Seminar on Electromyography (EMG) and Its Medical Applications As part of Al-Mustaqbal University’s ongoing scientific activities aimed at supporting student talents and enhancing their academic skills, the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the College of Engineering organized a specialized scientific seminar presented by a group of students on Electromyography (EMG). The seminar explored modern engineering techniques for analyzing muscular and neural bioelectric signals. About the Seminar and Academic Activity The scientific seminar was conducted under the direct supervision of: * Asst. Lect. Zainab Sattar Jabbar * Engineer Zainab Ali Jabr The event aimed to enhance students’ scientific knowledge and practical skills, bridge advanced engineering concepts with modern medical solutions, and develop their research, analytical, and academic communication abilities. Scientific Approach and Key Topics During the seminar, students presented a comprehensive analytical study of EMG technology, covering the following topics: * Explaining the operating principles of EMG devices and the electrophysiological processes associated with muscle fiber contraction. * Demonstrating how electrical muscle activity is detected and recorded, and how bioelectric signals are processed and filtered to eliminate noise and obtain accurate readings. * Highlighting key medical and engineering applications, particularly in diagnosing neuromuscular disorders, assessing muscle performance, and developing prosthetic limbs and medical rehabilitation systems. The seminar witnessed active engagement from attendees and the supervising committee through scientific discussions and questions, reflecting the students’ strong academic performance and their ability to connect theoretical knowledge with practical applications. Objectives of the Scientific Activity This academic event aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals adopted by the university, particularly: * SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-being: Contributing to the understanding and development of diagnostic technologies that support the early detection of muscular and neurological disorders. * SDG 4 – Quality Education: Empowering students, developing their research and academic presentation skills, and promoting practical engineering education. * SDG 9 – Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure: Encouraging innovation in biomedical signal processing and the development of medical diagnostic equipment. Al-Mustaqbal University – Ranked First Among Private Universities in Iraq.
