As part of Al-Mustaqbal University’s ongoing scientific activities aimed at strengthening academic excellence and enriching students’ specialized knowledge, the Department of Biomedical Engineering organized a specialized scientific seminar on “The Principles of Equilibrium and the Analysis of Forces Acting on Bodies and Their Biomechanical Applications.”
About the Seminar:
The scientific seminar was conducted under the direct supervision of:
* Assist. Lecturer Hiba Diaa Abdul Amir
* Engineer Mohammed Abdul Kareem Razooqi
The seminar aimed to enhance students’ scientific knowledge and develop their analytical skills in understanding biomechanics, examining the behavior of physical forces, and exploring their various effects on the equilibrium of bodies and biological systems.
Scientific Approach and Main Topics:
The seminar adopted an analytical and practical approach, covering the following topics:
* Reviewing the theoretical and mathematical principles of equilibrium and analyzing force vectors acting on bodies at rest and in motion.
* Highlighting the use of the advanced Vernier Force and Acceleration Sensor to investigate equilibrium and perform accurate practical measurements.
* Explaining the mechanisms of collecting and analyzing graphical data obtained from sensors and utilizing the results in engineering and biomedical applications, particularly in human movement assessment and the design of assistive and rehabilitation devices.
The seminar witnessed considerable attendance and interest from students and other participants, who engaged in scientific discussions on how smart sensors can be utilized in advanced research and studies.
Objectives of the Scientific Activity:
The seminar’s themes align with the Sustainable Development Goals pursued by the university, including:
* Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being — By enriching scientific understanding of body equilibrium and movement mechanisms in ways that support physical therapy and rehabilitation engineering.
* Goal 4: Quality Education — By providing advanced specialized knowledge that enhances students’ competencies and connects theoretical sciences with practical applications.
* Goal 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure — By promoting the use of modern technologies and smart sensors to address engineering and medical challenges.
