Steps Toward Global Excellence: AlMustaqbal University Students Begin Training at ALKU, Turkey Driven by a vision of international academic openness, students from AlMustaqbal University have officially launched their joint training program at Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat University (ALKU) in Turkey. The first day began with an official reception hosted by the Rector of ALKU, Prof. Dr. Kenan Ahmet Türkdoğan, who warmly welcomed the AlMustaqbal delegation, including Dr. Amir Najah, Mr. Mustafa Hussein Mohammed, and Mr. Ali Mazher. The delegation conveyed greetings from the President of AlMustaqbal University, Prof. Dr. Hasan Shakir Majdi, highlighting the importance of this strategic partnership in advancing scientific research and practical skills. Director of AlMustaqbal Energy Research Center Chairs Master’s Thesis Defense to Strengthen Academic Partnerships

As part of ongoing efforts to support scientific collaboration and strengthen academic partnerships, Prof. Dr. Salwan Obeid Waheed, Director of AlMustaqbal Center for Energy Research at AlMustaqbal University, chaired a Master’s thesis defense committee at the Middle Technical University in Baghdad. The defense took place on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, where Prof. Dr. Waheed led the scientific committee, reflecting the active role of academic expertise in advancing research and fostering knowledge exchange among higher education institutions. This participation aligns with AlMustaqbal University’s commitment—through its research centers—to openness and collaboration with Iraqi universities, contributing to the advancement of academic standards and the support of postgraduate studies. It also supports the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 17, which emphasizes building effective partnerships to promote knowledge exchange and sustainable development.

Strengthening Academic Cooperation: Al-Mustaqbal University President Joins Ministerial Delegation to Egypt

The President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, participated in a high-level ministerial delegation visiting the Arab Republic of Egypt. The delegation was headed by the Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research for Scientific Affairs, Professor Dr. Haider Abdul Dhahd, with the aim of strengthening frameworks of joint academic cooperation and activating scientific partnerships between the two brotherly countries. The visit focused on activating memoranda of understanding and advancing the level of scientific research. The tour included key strategic stops, notably at Al-Azhar University, where the delegation met with its presidency to discuss avenues for integration in scientific and research fields, as well as the exchange of academic expertise in support of the educational journey in both countries. The visit also included close follow-up on joint postgraduate programs with Mansoura University. The successful collaboration between Al-Mustaqbal University and Mansoura University in hosting a Master’s program in Law at Al-Mustaqbal University was highly commended, marking one of the first fruitful and constructive academic partnerships between the Republic of Iraq and the Arab Republic of Egypt. Emphasis was placed on overcoming obstacles facing researchers and expanding cooperation in rare and emerging specializations. Furthermore, the delegation held extensive meetings at the headquarters of the Egyptian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to discuss mechanisms for mutual recognition, academic twinning programs, and initiatives aimed at improving university rankings in international indexing databases. In support of international publishing, the delegation also met with the regional office of Elsevier (El-Safeer Foundation), where they reviewed the latest technologies in scientific publishing, including the use of artificial intelligence (AI in Research), and explored ways to enhance the global visibility of Iraqi research. The tour also included a visit to Intlaq Company for Communications and Information Technology at Mansoura University. During the meeting, the Intlaq team presented its أبرز achievements in digital transformation and the development of technological infrastructure in universities and hospitals, which received high praise from the delegation as a leading Egyptian model supporting education and academic and medical services. For his part, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi expressed his deep appreciation for the significant role played by the Deputy Minister, Professor Dr. Haider Abdul Dhahd, in leading this scientific movement. He affirmed that Al-Mustaqbal University’s participation in this delegation reflects its continuous commitment to adopting global quality standards and providing an advanced educational and research environment through partnerships with established Egyptian institutions. This visit comes as part of a series of steps taken by the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to enhance international openness and achieve excellence in research outputs.

Preparations Launched for the 4th International Conference on the Future of Sustainable Energy (ICFSE 2026) in Istanbul Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, and with direct field supervision by the Dean of the Technical Engineering College, Professor Dr. Azhar Mohsen Abdul, the preparatory and scientific committee of the 4th International Conference on the Future of Sustainable Energy (ICFSE 2026) held an intensive meeting to discuss the executive plans and timeline for the conference, which is scheduled to take place in Istanbul, Turkey, in collaboration and scientific partnership with Istanbul Aydin University. Key Discussion Points: The meeting included a comprehensive review of several strategic topics aimed at enhancing the quality and impact of the conference’s fourth edition: • Attracting Global Expertise: The committee discussed inviting keynote speakers from leading international universities and research centers, particularly from the United Kingdom, Germany, and Romania, to enrich the conference sessions with the latest advancements in energy technologies. • High-Quality Scientific Publishing: Discussions were held on establishing agreements with reputable international publishers to ensure that accepted papers are indexed in global databases and to facilitate the publication process for researchers. • Enhancing Scientific Networking: The committee approved a proposal to organize a scientific tour in Istanbul for participating researchers, aiming to create an interactive environment that fosters direct communication and the exchange of academic expertise between local and international scholars. Green Awareness on Campus: A Campaign Promoting Sustainability Among Students

As part of the fourth day of the Fourth International Sustainability Week, the Al-Mustaqbal Center for Energy Research organized an awareness campaign on campus, during which educational brochures were distributed to university students. The campaign aimed to promote awareness of sustainability concepts and the importance of adopting renewable energy sources, by providing simplified information on the role of clean energy in protecting the environment and reducing harmful emissions. The brochures also introduced key renewable energy sources, such as solar and wind energy, highlighting their positive impact on achieving sustainable development. The campaign witnessed notable engagement from students, reflecting their growing interest in environmental issues and their willingness to adopt eco-friendly behaviors. This initiative comes as part of the center’s ongoing efforts to spread environmental awareness and promote a culture of sustainability within the university community.

As part of the activities of the 4th International Sustainability Week, and within the fourth day’s program, Al_Mustaqbal Energy Research Center at Al_Mustaqbal University organized a scientific workshop entitled: “Transition to Renewable Energy for Environmental Sustainability” The workshop was held on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, with the attendance of a number of students and individuals interested in the fields of energy and sustainability. The workshop aimed to highlight the importance of renewable energy and its vital role in achieving environmental sustainability, as well as to discuss the key challenges facing the transition to clean energy, and to review the latest strategies and technologies adopted in this field. The workshop included several scientific topics, including an introduction to renewable energy sources and their role in reducing carbon emissions, in addition to presenting practical applications and recent projects that support the transition toward clean energy. As part of the 4th International Sustainability Week activities, and within the fourth day’s program, the AlMustaqbal Energy Research Centre at AlMstaqbal University organized a scientific workshop entitled: “From Waste to Energy: The Future of Lithium Battery Recycling” The workshop was attended by a number of students, researchers, and individuals interested in the fields of energy and sustainability. It aimed to highlight the importance of recycling lithium batteries and its role in reducing environmental impact and promoting sustainability, in addition to reviewing the latest technologies used in recycling processes and the challenges facing this vital sector. The workshop also covered several topics, including an introduction to lithium batteries and their widespread applications, the environmental risks associated with improper disposal, as well as the economic benefits of recycling and its role in supporting a sustainable energy economy. Scientific Knowledge Exchange: Pioneers of Biomedical Engineering Association Delivers Specialized Workshop at Al-Mustaqbal University

As part of the activities of the Fourth International Al-Mustaqbal Sustainability Week, and ضمن the third day’s program, the Al-Mustaqbal Center for Energy Research at Al-Mustaqbal University, in collaboration with the Pioneers of Biomedical Engineering Association – Baghdad, organized a specialized workshop in the field of biomedical engineering. The workshop was held in the presence of the Director of the Center, Dr. Salwan Obaid Waheed, and the Head of the Department of Medical Devices Engineering, Dr. Bayan Mahdi Sabbar, along with a distinguished group of students and individuals interested in medical and engineering fields. The workshop aimed to develop students’ skills and enhance their practical knowledge, contributing to preparing qualified graduates capable of meeting the demands of the healthcare sector. The session was delivered by Eng. Issam Ahmed, who highlighted the vital role of biomedical engineers within healthcare institutions, including operating, maintaining, and calibrating medical devices, as well as contributing to their development and design in line with the latest technological advancements. The workshop also included practical demonstrations of various medical devices, emphasizing the engineer’s role in improving performance efficiency and ensuring safety within hospital environments. In addition, it addressed ways to enhance both scientific and practical skills required for successful integration into the job market. The workshop witnessed active engagement from participants, effectively bridging the gap between academic knowledge and real-world applications, and highlighting the importance of biomedical engineering in supporting the healthcare sector. This workshop is part of a series of scientific activities organized by the center during Sustainability Week, aiming to promote knowledge sharing and strengthen collaboration with academic and professional institutions.
