Advancing Solar Efficiency: A Scientific Workshop on Sustainable Thermal Energy Systems

As part of the second day of the Fourth International Sustainability Week at Al-Mustaqbal University, and within the program of workshops and activities organized by the Al-Mustaqbal Center for Energy Research, a specialized scientific workshop was delivered by Lecturer Asmaa Mohammed Hameed from the Department of Power Mechanical Engineering. The workshop, titled “Improving Solar Thermal Energy Efficiency in Sustainable Renewable Energy Systems,” focused on the latest methods and technologies used to enhance the efficiency of solar thermal systems. It also highlighted the importance of investing in renewable energy sources to achieve environmental sustainability and reduce reliance on fossil fuels. The visit aimed to strengthen scientific cooperation and exchange expertise in the fields of sustainable energy and vocational education. Dr. Anwar reviewed a number of student-led research and applied projects conducted at the center, focusing on innovative solutions in renewable energy and environmental sustainability. She also toured the laboratories and examined the advanced equipment available at the center, expressing her admiration for the students’ scientific level and the efforts made by the center’s administration in supporting innovation and developing students’ skills in line with global trends toward the green economy and digital transformation. Al-Mustaqbal Center for Energy Research Actively Participates in EURIE 2026 through Distinguished Representation by Its Director, Dr. Salwan Obaid Waheed Reflecting the growing international presence of Al-Mustaqbal University institutions, the Al-Mustaqbal Center for Energy Research actively participated ضمن the university’s delegation in the international exhibition held on the sidelines of the EURIE 2026 Summit in Istanbul, which witnessed wide participation from global universities and educational institutions. The center was represented by its Director, Dr. Salwan Obaid Waheed, who attended the opening of the university’s pavilion. Continuation of Practical Lectures for Electrical Engineering Students at Energy Research Center Using PVsyst Software

As part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen the practical skills of engineering students, Al-Mustaqbal Energy Research Center continues to deliver hands-on training sessions for students of the Electrical Engineering Department within its specialized laboratories. The latest lecture focused on training students to use PVsyst, one of the most widely recognized software tools for the design and simulation of solar energy systems. The session included a practical explanation of the software installation process, an introduction to its main interface, and step-by-step guidance on designing solar power systems Students were also trained on how to input site-specific data, select system components such as solar panels and inverters, and analyze simulation results to evaluate system performance and efficiency. In addition, the practical session covered how to generate professional technical reports using PVsyst, helping students develop essential skills in preparing engineering studies and project documentation related to solar energy systems.
