Al-Mustaqbal University – Al-Mustaqbal Center for Artificial Intelligence Applications Al-Mustaqbal Center for Artificial Intelligence Applications at Al-Mustaqbal University continues to strengthen its scientific and research presence through a growing portfolio of initiatives, activities, and applied projects aimed at harnessing artificial intelligence to support scientific research, education, community service, innovation, and digital transformation. Over the recent period, the Center has witnessed a diverse range of scientific and research activities, including the publication of specialized research in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and networking, participation in scientific conferences and academic events, as well as contributions to training programs and initiatives aimed at raising awareness of artificial intelligence applications among students, researchers, and members of the wider community. Advancing Research and Scientific Excellence In the field of scientific research, the Center has strengthened its international research presence through the work of Prof. Dr. Mahdi Abadi Mani, Director of Al-Mustaqbal Center for Artificial Intelligence Applications. Among these achievements is his research entitled “Proactive Deep Q-Learning Approach for Anomaly Detection in IoT IDSs,” which focuses on applying deep reinforcement learning and artificial intelligence techniques to develop proactive approaches for detecting anomalies and cyberattacks in Internet of Things (IoT) networks. The Center has also contributed to international scientific publishing through Prof. Dr. Mahdi Abadi Mani’s chapter entitled “A Hybrid MADRL Model for Task Scheduling in 5G Cloud Radio Access Networks,” published as part of the proceedings of the Third International Conference on Innovations in Intelligent Informatics, Networking, and Cybersecurity (3INC 2025) by Springer Nature in the Communications in Computer and Information Science (CCIS) series. These contributions reflect the Center’s commitment to supporting high-quality research and expanding its engagement with contemporary scientific fields at the intersection of artificial intelligence, intelligent networks, cybersecurity, and emerging digital technologies. Supporting Student Innovation and Applied Artificial Intelligence The Center’s activities also extend to supporting student innovation and transforming theoretical knowledge into practical solutions. One notable example is the project “Predictive System for Diabetes and Heart Diseases Using Explainable AI (XAI),” which participated in the National University Championship for Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Applications (NURAI 2026) in the medical track and received a Very Good evaluation. The project reflects the Center’s approach to encouraging students to employ artificial intelligence in addressing real-world challenges, particularly in healthcare, while emphasizing the importance of explainability and responsible AI. Building Digital and Cybersecurity Capabilities The Center continues to contribute to capacity building through specialized training activities and workshops addressing emerging technological fields. Among these activities are programs focusing on cybersecurity, network analysis, artificial intelligence applications, and digital technologies, providing students and researchers with practical knowledge and skills aligned with the rapidly changing requirements of digital transformation. Such initiatives reinforce the Center’s role in preparing qualified human resources capable of understanding, developing, and responsibly applying emerging technologies. Artificial Intelligence in the Service of Society The Center’s mission extends beyond the academic environment to include scientific outreach and community engagement. In August 2026, Prof. Dr. Mahdi Abadi Mani delivered a scientific seminar entitled: “From Human Intelligence to Artificial Intelligence: Where Do Cognitive Capacities Stand?” The seminar addressed the relationship between human cognitive capabilities and the rapid development of intelligent systems, highlighting the opportunities and challenges associated with the growing interaction between humans and artificial intelligence. The event also recognized Prof. Dr. Mahdi Abadi Mani in appreciation of his scientific participation and contributions to promoting awareness of artificial intelligence. A Future Vision Focused on Innovation and Applied Intelligence Looking ahead, Al-Mustaqbal Center for Artificial Intelligence Applications seeks to expand its research and applied activities across a number of strategic fields, including: Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Cybersecurity Internet of Things (IoT) Intelligent Healthcare Systems Robotics Data Analytics Digital Transformation Emerging Intelligent Technologies The Center also aims to strengthen multidisciplinary research, connecting artificial intelligence with medicine, engineering, science, economics, environmental studies, and other fields in order to develop research projects capable of addressing real societal challenges. Expanding Training and Scientific Partnerships Another important component of the Center’s future vision is the expansion of specialized training programs, workshops, and scientific activities designed to support students, researchers, academics, and innovators. The Center seeks to provide an environment in which emerging talents can develop their technical capabilities, transform innovative ideas into practical projects, and explore new applications of artificial intelligence. At the same time, the Center looks forward to strengthening scientific cooperation and partnerships with universities, research institutions, technology organizations, and specialized centers both within Iraq and internationally. From a Knowledge Center to an Innovation Platform The future ambition of Al-Mustaqbal Center for Artificial Intelligence Applications is to move beyond its role as a scientific and research entity toward becoming an integrated platform for innovation and applied artificial intelligence. Such a platform would bring together researchers, students, experts, innovators, and project developers within an environment capable of transforming scientific ideas into practical technological solutions with measurable impact. This vision reflects the Center’s understanding that artificial intelligence is not merely an emerging technology. Rather, it is a strategic tool for research, innovation, community development, digital transformation, and sustainable development. Through its future programs and initiatives, the Center will continue to strengthen its scientific position, expand its research output, support young talents, develop intelligent applications, and contribute to preparing a generation equipped with the knowledge and skills required to navigate the rapidly evolving digital landscape. These efforts are aligned with the vision of Al-Mustaqbal University in supporting innovation, scientific research, community engagement, and the adoption of emerging technologies, while strengthening the University's role in building an academic environment capable of responding to future challenges and developing solutions for them.
